The research is increasingly pointing to one overlooked driver: endotoxin (LPS) and the functional health of the gut microbiome.
Lipopolysaccharide — bacterial endotoxin — is emerging in the literature as a primary trigger of chronic, low-grade inflammation in metabolic disease.
A compromised gut barrier lets endotoxin translocate, feeding the inflammatory cascade that sustains insulin resistance.
Shown in BiotiQuest's published research to reduce endotoxin burden by restoring microbial function and barrier integrity.
Five concrete takeaways for the clinic — grounded in mechanism and evidence, not theory.
Why LPS is emerging as a meaningful target in metabolic disease.
Microbial function, gut-barrier health, and insulin resistance — connected.
BiotiQuest's research on a targeted multi-strain probiotic.
Practical approaches to GLP-1–associated constipation.
Bring your cases — implementation questions answered in real time.
One clinical story, built from mechanism to application. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of why endotoxin (LPS) has emerged as an important metabolic target—and practical strategies you can begin using with patients immediately.
Why chronic inflammation, insulin resistance, and gastrointestinal dysfunction often persist—even when conventional therapies improve blood sugar and weight.
How microbial function, gut barrier integrity, and bacterial endotoxins interact to drive systemic inflammation and metabolic dysfunction.
A review of the clinical evidence evaluating a targeted multi-strain probiotic designed to reduce endotoxin burden and support metabolic health.
Practical strategies for supporting gut barrier health, reducing endotoxin exposure, and managing GLP-1–associated constipation in clinical practice.
Open floor — case-specific implementation questions.

Martha Carlin is a scientist, inventor, entrepreneur, and founder of The BioCollective, BiotiQuest, and Ancient Organics BioSciences. Inspired by her husband's diagnosis with young-onset Parkinson's disease, she has spent more than two decades researching the role of the gut microbiome in chronic disease. Her work has led to multiple peer-reviewed publications, patented probiotic technologies, and clinical research in metabolic, neurological, and gut health. Martha has presented at the White House Microbiome Initiative, TEDx, and leading scientific and medical conferences, and is a Research Fellow with Professor Barry W. Ninham at The Australian National University, where she studies the glycocalyx, biological membranes, and the biophysical mechanisms underlying health and disease.
